Last weekend we crossed another ‘to do’ off of our list and went visited the Drach Caves.
I booked easily on the website at a great price, downloaded the voucher on my phone and we made the journey across the island to Porto Cristo.
There was plenty of parking and it was free which was a bonus, we even got to leave the car there whilst we went to the port for some lunch.
We chose the 12 o’clock tour of the caves which was quite busy so if you’d rather visit when there are less tourists I’d recommend choosing a later time slot. They have a few to choose from throughout the day and the last tour is at 5pm.
The tour lasts about an hour and includes a beautiful concert held in an auditorium facing a lake. It really is lovely however, no photography is allowed.
After the performance you can choose to take a short boat trip across the lake or walk over the bridge, we queued for about 5 minutes to get on the boat and the trip was much shorter than expected. I recommend it if you’re first in the queue but if not the bridge is probably the best option as some people did stand waiting for a lot longer than we did.
The total time for the tour is around an hour so if you’re looking for something to do away from the beach then I highly recommend it. You can buy tickets at the box office too so a great activity for a cloudy day, luckily the day we went was beautifully sunny so we had lunch by the beach which is a short walk away.
It is really beautiful there, the sea is bright turquoise so a perfect place to sit and have lunch with friends or people watch.
The restaurant we went to is called Vibes and has a terrace overlooking the beach, the food is really good (try the Asian salad, it’s amazing!) the staff are very friendly and they play reggae music! Best lunch we have had on the island so far, we will definitely be going back to explore the area a bit more.
