This weekend we took the train from Palma to Soller, we literally live 6 minutes around the corner from the station and have been talking about going for months!
We very nearly missed the train as they only accept cash (in this day and age!) so I had I run down the street to the nearest cash machine (yes I ran!) while Mauro made sure the train didn't leave without us.
Now I have to be honest, I think it's a little over priced at just over 30EUR per person but this does include the tram and I suppose most people will be used to the tourist prices. You can get the bus to Soller which is quicker and much cheaper but I'm certain you won't see views anywhere near as beautiful!
The mountain views from the train are really quite breathtaking especially on a sunny day. The train travels through some lovely small towns there are a few stops too, we fell in love with a town called Bunyola, some of the houses are just stunning.
We stayed on the train all the way to Soller which took around an hour, getting off at the station felt somewhat magical as we made our way to the tram stop to head to the port. The town was surprisingly busy for March and the weather really was perfect for the trip.
The tram travels through the town to the port in around 15 minutes, there were tons of orange and lemon trees and an event in the main square with market stalls and street food.
We got off at the last stop right by the port and walked along the beach before sitting down for some lunch at one of the seaside restaurants.
It really is a wonderful day out, I regret not spending more time in the main town of Soller so we will definitely have to go back soon!
