We took the bus from Palma to Camp de Mar beach last year in the hight of summer, not only was the heat insane but the beach was heaving with tourists. This weekend we decided to take the 25 minute trip back there via moped to see how different it is during the off season.
There are two large hotels on the beach front, one of which was still closed for the winter. We spent the night in the Roc Gran Camp de Mar hotel which had only just opened for 2018. Although it's in a great location and has a really good buffet dinner (with drinks included on half board basis, awesome!), I wouldn't recommend it if you want piece and quiet on your summer holiday. The standard rooms are a little small and the walls are quite thin, we had a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms and from the hallway and I can only imagine how much more difficult getting to sleep would have been if the hotel was full! The hotel does have a Spa with free entry and a long list of treatments to purchase, which is a bonus.
The view from our room was lovely and as you can see they have hot tubs which I'm sure are great in the summer.
As expected the beach was very quiet with only a few tourists wandering around. We took a stroll, climbed over a beautiful rocky area on the far side of the beach and checked out some of the holiday homes nearby. Some of the houses on the rocks looking over the sea are just stunning!
The weather was lovely and the sea was just as clear and blue as when we had been to visit in the summer, although I can imagine much colder!
In the morning Mauro enjoyed some rays on the balcony before we jumped back on the moped and headed to Port Andratx for some lunch.
When you next visit the island we highly recommend a trip to Camp de Mar!
